Understanding the Cost of Care: Why My Sessions are Worth It

I understand. Conversations about money can be awkward. But struggling in silence because you thought you couldn’t afford help is even worse. Sometimes, the solution is simply to ask.

So, let’s clarify one important point:

Yes, my rate is $200 per session. Yes, I believe I’m worth every penny. And yes, I offer financial scholarships.

This isn't intended as a discount.

It’s not charity either.

Instead, it’s a value-aligned option. I want to create space for the right clients, not just the highest-paying ones.

Why I Charge What I Do

I've spent nearly a decade in this field. During that time, I've worked with hundreds of clients. Many have been burned out, neurodivergent, healing from trauma, or facing challenges related to identity and relationships.

My knowledge isn't solely theoretical; I've lived through it, studied it, and supported people through their highs and lows.

What you’re paying for goes beyond my training or credentials.

You’re paying for my time.

How My Time is Used

The time invested in each session includes:

  • Holding complex emotions without judgment

  • Crafting strategies that work and stick

  • Being fully present during every session

At this stage of my practice, charging $250 enables me to:

  • Focus on a smaller number of clients

  • Avoid burnout to continue this work long-term

  • Offer free and low-cost therapy to underserved individuals in my community, especially marginalized groups who deserve care without unnecessary barriers.

This isn't just business—it’s about sustainability for both you and me.

What If I Can’t Afford That?

That’s exactly why I offer a financial scholarship.

This isn’t a handout.

It’s not a negotiation.

Instead, it’s a discreet, no-pressure option for those who are a good fit for this work.

The Simple Requirement

Here’s the kicker:

👉🏾 The only requirement to qualify is that we’re a good fit. If we connect, if the work feels aligned, and if I believe I can help—you’re eligible. Just ask, and I’ll share what I can offer. No shame, no awkwardness, and no essay required.

This is why I provide free consultations. Let’s talk and explore what’s possible—financially, emotionally, and logistically.

Should You Ask?

Absolutely, yes!

If you feel called to this work, if something inside says this is the person I want to work with—bring it up. Let’s have that conversation. I’d much prefer a moment of honest financial transparency than watch someone walk away silently, assuming they can’t afford the care they need.

Supporting the Community

If you are someone who can pay the full rate, know that your contribution aids in providing life-changing support to those who can’t. This is how we keep our system equitable, rooted in the community rather than driven by capitalism.

Every one of us is playing a role here.

Mine is to make therapy accessible, powerful, and genuine.

Your role? Simply show up—and ask.

Final Thoughts on Financial Transparency

Now that we've addressed the topic of money, let’s look at my approach. You deserve assurance that you are in capable hands.
